Matthew R. Zapp, a life long Village resident, is the son of Robert and Patricia Zapp.

   Matt is a ’94 graduate of Madison High School.  He furthered his education at The University of Akron completing a dual bachelors degree in English and Philosophy. Prior to Madison Village, he was employed at the Madison Township serving as the Parks Superintendent and Cemetery Sexton.

   Matt wed Haley (Miller) Zapp on July 4, 2003. Haley, a graduate of Kent State University, teaches second grade at Homer Nash Kimball elementary.

   The couple resides only a short walk from Village Hall on Eagle Street. Their home, previously owned by Matt’s grandparents John and Tressa Zapp, has been in the family since 1958.

   Matt’s maternal grandfather, Ludwig Gustincic, served forty-plus years for Madison Village as the Chief of Police. Haley’s family is deeply rooted in the community as well. Her grandparents, Richard and Joanne Collins, are founders of the local Collin’s Bi-Rite grocery store.

   Matt and Haley attend Crossroads Community Church in Madison. Other interests for the couple include renovation of their century home, gardening, drag racing, discipleship and journalistic writing.
